The VALUE COLLECTION NB11001 is a black steel close nipple designed for threaded pipe assemblies in plumbing, industrial, and mechanical piping systems. Measuring 3 inches in nominal diameter and 2-5/8 inches in length, this Schedule 40 nipple is threaded on both ends per ANSI B1.20.1 and ASME B1.20.1 standards, ensuring consistent thread engagement with standard fittings and valves. Its close-nipple configuration makes it the right choice when a short, rigid connection is needed between two threaded components. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters install this type of fitting in gas, water, and steam distribution lines where Schedule 40 wall thickness meets system pressure requirements.
This nipple is suited for residential and commercial piping applications where a 3-inch nominal diameter threaded connection is required. Typical uses include branch connections, riser assemblies, and equipment drops in natural gas, water supply, and low-pressure steam systems. The black steel finish is standard for gas distribution piping as recognized under IFGC and IPC guidelines. It is sold individually and fits directly into standard 3-inch NPT fittings, flanges, and valves that conform to ANSI B1.20.1 thread specifications.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting compatible with standard 3-inch NPT threaded fittings, couplings, valves, and flanges conforming to ANSI B1.20.1 thread standards.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or pipefitter in accordance with applicable local codes, the IPC, or the IFGC depending on the fluid service. Shut off and depressurize the affected piping system completely before making any threaded connections. Apply an approved thread sealant or PTFE tape to the male threads before assembly and tighten to a firm, leak-free engagement without over-torquing the joint. Pressure-test the completed assembly per local code requirements before returning the system to service.
