The VALUE COLLECTION MSC67706564X is a Size 6 externally threaded taper pin machined from Grade 303 18-8 stainless steel with a passivated finish. The pin measures 4 inches in length with a large end diameter of 0.339 inches and conforms to AN386 standards. The 5/16-24 threaded end allows for secure extraction and positive locking in tapered holes. Passivation removes free iron from the surface, improving corrosion resistance without changing dimensional tolerances. This pin is installed by machinists, maintenance technicians, and assembly professionals in applications where precise shaft-to-hub alignment or component locking is required.
Threaded taper pins are used in mechanical assemblies where a removable, self-locking fastener is needed to secure collars, hubs, levers, or similar components to shafts. The AN386 standard makes this pin suitable for aerospace-grade assemblies as well as general industrial and MRO applications. The stainless steel construction makes it appropriate for installations exposed to moisture, mild chemicals, or sanitary environments. The threaded end simplifies removal with a standard nut driver or wrench, reducing service time compared to plain taper pins.
Designed as an AN386-compliant Size 6 threaded taper pin for use in standard tapered holes sized for Size 6 pins across industrial, MRO, and aerospace-grade mechanical assemblies.
Installation is typically performed by machinists or maintenance technicians using a taper pin reamer to prepare the mating hole to the correct taper before driving the pin. Ensure the assembly is fully de-energized and secured before pin installation or removal. Use the 5/16-24 threaded end with the appropriate nut and driver for controlled removal; do not attempt to drive the pin out from the threaded end with a hammer. Follow applicable facility safety and mechanical assembly procedures during service.
