The VALUE COLLECTION MSC67705640X is a size 9 externally threaded taper pin manufactured from C-12L14 steel with an uncoated finish. It features a 6-inch pin length, a large end diameter of 0.589 inches, a neck diameter of 0.430 inches, and a 1/2-20 threaded end for secure nut retention. Threaded taper pins are used to lock hubs, collars, and mechanical assemblies onto shafts where precise alignment and positive retention are required. The 1/2-20 thread allows a nut to be tightened against the assembly, preventing the pin from backing out under vibration or axial load. This pin meets AN386 standards and is sold individually.
This taper pin is suited for industrial mechanical assemblies, machinery, and equipment where shaft-to-hub connections require reliable locking. Typical applications include agricultural equipment, power transmission components, industrial machinery, and general fabrication work. The C-12L14 free-machining steel construction provides good machinability and adequate strength for standard mechanical fastening applications. Installation is performed by machinists, millwrights, and maintenance technicians working with tapered-hole assemblies.
Designed as a standard AN386 size 9 threaded taper pin for use in tapered-hole assemblies requiring a 1/2-20 threaded fastener with a 6-inch pin length and 0.589-inch large end diameter.
Installation is typically performed by a machinist or millwright using a taper pin reamer to ensure the mating hole is properly sized and finished before driving the pin. Depower and lock out all rotating equipment before servicing any shaft or hub assembly. Drive the pin into the tapered hole by hand or with a pin driver until fully seated, then thread the nut onto the 1/2-20 end and tighten to secure. Do not force an oversized pin into an undersized hole, as this can damage the hub or shaft bore.
