The VALUE COLLECTION MSC67702688X is a Size 7 stainless steel taper pin manufactured to ANSI/ASME B18.8.2 standards. It features a small end diameter of 0.3466 inches and a large end diameter of 0.409 inches, with an overall length of 3 inches. The pin is machined from Grade 303, 18-8 stainless steel and carries a passivated finish to resist corrosion and maintain dimensional integrity in demanding environments. Taper pins are used to secure components on shafts, align mating assemblies, and provide repeatable disassembly in mechanical systems. This part is sold individually and is suited for machinists, maintenance mechanics, and industrial technicians working in fabrication or equipment repair applications.
Taper pins at this size range are commonly installed in light to medium industrial machinery, pump assemblies, conveyor components, and general mechanical fixtures where a reliable, removable locating or locking pin is required. The Size 7 designation follows the ANSI/ASME B18.8.2 taper pin series, which defines the taper, diameter tolerances, and length for standardized interchangeability. The passivated stainless steel construction makes this pin appropriate for food processing equipment, marine environments, chemical handling systems, or any application where carbon steel would be unsuitable due to corrosion risk.
Designed as an ANSI/ASME B18.8.2 standard Size 7 taper pin replacement or new installation for any mechanical assembly requiring a Size 7 taper pin with a 3-inch overall length.
Taper pins are typically driven into a reamed taper-pin hole using a pin punch and hammer or an arbor press; the receiving hole must be reamed to the correct taper before installation. De-energize and lock out all machinery before servicing any pinned shaft or assembly in accordance with applicable OSHA lockout/tagout procedures. Removal is accomplished by driving from the small end using a properly sized punch. Do not force an oversized pin into an undersized hole, as this can distort the workpiece or fracture the pin.
