The VALUE COLLECTION MSC67701722X is a Size 4 stainless steel taper pin designed for precise shaft-to-hub and component-alignment applications in mechanical assemblies. Manufactured from 18-8 Grade 303 stainless steel with a passivated finish, this pin resists corrosion in demanding service environments. It measures 0.224 inches at the small end and 0.25 inches at the large end, with an overall length of 1.25 inches. Conforming to ANSI/ASME B18.8.2, it holds tight dimensional tolerances, with a minimum diameter tolerance of -0.0007 inches and a maximum of 0.0013 inches. Machinists, maintenance technicians, and industrial assemblers install these pins to lock rotating or stationary components on shafts with repeatable, removable precision.
This taper pin is suited for light to medium-duty mechanical assemblies where corrosion resistance is a priority, such as food processing equipment, marine hardware, chemical handling machinery, and general industrial fixtures. Installation is typically performed by machinists or maintenance technicians using a correctly sized taper reamer to prepare the mating hole before driving the pin. Power down and de-energize any equipment before inserting or removing taper pins from live assemblies. The pin is driven in from the small-end side using a pin punch and hammer; never force an oversized pin into an undersized hole, as this can crack the hub or distort the shaft. Removal is accomplished by driving the pin back out from the large-end side with an appropriately sized punch.
