The VALUE COLLECTION MSC-62149562 is a black malleable iron reducing coupling designed to connect pipes of two different diameters in threaded piping systems. It transitions from a 1-inch pipe to a 3/4-inch pipe using standard NPT threaded end connections. Rated at Class 150 with a liquid and gas pressure rating of 300 psi, this coupling is suited for plumbing, gas distribution, and general industrial piping applications. The black finish is standard for gas-line fittings and provides corrosion resistance appropriate for typical service conditions. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters are the primary installers of this fitting.
This reducing coupling is used in residential and commercial piping systems where a step-down in pipe diameter is required within a threaded run. Common applications include natural gas supply lines, compressed air systems, and water distribution piping. The 1-inch-to-3/4-inch transition makes it a frequently used fitting when a main line reduces to a branch or appliance connection. The malleable iron construction handles thermal cycling and mechanical stress better than cast iron in threaded applications.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or standard fitting for threaded malleable iron piping systems rated at Class 150, compatible with 1-inch and 3/4-inch NPT threaded pipe assemblies in gas, water, and air service.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or pipefitter in accordance with applicable local codes, the International Fuel Gas Code (IFGC), or the International Plumbing Code (IPC) as applicable. Shut off and depressurize the system completely before removing or installing any fitting. Apply an appropriate thread sealant or tape rated for the service medium before making up the threaded connection. Do not overtighten threaded joints; use a pipe wrench and backup wrench to avoid stressing adjacent fittings or pipe.
