The VALUE COLLECTION MSC-04919668 is a bottoming hand tap designed for cutting left-hand internal threads in metal workpieces. Manufactured from bright, uncoated high speed steel, it produces 1-1/2-12 UNF threads with a 3B class of fit and an H4 thread limit. The six-flute, straight-flute geometry provides clean chip evacuation in through-hole and shallow blind-hole applications. With an overall length of 6.375 inches and a thread length of 3 inches, this tap is sized for production and maintenance machining environments. It is used by machinists, toolroom technicians, and skilled trade professionals working on threaded fastener repairs and new-thread forming.
This tap is suited for threading operations that require a left-hand thread orientation, such as counterclockwise-rotating shaft components, turnbuckles, or assemblies where reverse-thread fasteners prevent loosening under operational torque. The bottoming chamfer style allows threads to be cut close to the bottom of a blind hole, making it appropriate for applications where full thread engagement depth near the base of the hole is required. It performs in steel, aluminum, brass, and other machinable metals commonly encountered in general manufacturing and repair work.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or standard tooling option for any application requiring a 1-1/2-12 UNF left-hand internal thread with a 3B class of fit.
This tap is installed and operated by machinists or skilled trade technicians using a tap wrench or appropriate machine tapping setup. Always use a cutting fluid or tapping compound appropriate for the workpiece material to reduce tool wear and improve thread quality. Ensure the tap is aligned perpendicular to the workpiece surface before engagement to avoid cross-threading or tap breakage. Reverse the tap periodically during hand tapping to break chips and prevent binding.
