The VALUE COLLECTION MSC-04487104 is a 3/4-10 UNC straight flute hand tap designed for cutting right-hand internal threads in through-holes and blind holes where thread quality and consistency matter. Manufactured from high speed steel (HSS) with a bright uncoated finish, this tap delivers reliable performance across a range of ferrous and non-ferrous materials. The plug chamfer (3-5 threads) provides a moderate lead-in, making it suitable for both through-hole and sufficiently deep blind-hole applications. With an overall length of 4.25 inches and a thread length of 2 inches, it is sized for standard hand-tapping operations performed by machinists, maintenance technicians, and tool-and-die professionals.
This tap is used in general-purpose threading applications where a 3/4-10 UNC coarse-thread form is required. It is well suited for threading steel, cast iron, aluminum, and similar materials in maintenance, repair, fabrication, and production environments. The H5 thread limit supports a Class 2B fit, which is the standard free-fit tolerance for most fastener applications, and also accommodates Class 3B close-tolerance work. It is intended for use with a standard tap wrench and cutting fluid appropriate to the workpiece material.
Designed as a standard replacement or bench-stock hand tap for 3/4-10 UNC threading applications in maintenance, repair, and fabrication settings. Compatible with standard 3/4-inch tap wrenches and tap holders accepting straight-shank taps.
Hand taps of this type are installed and driven by a tap wrench; use of a calibrated torque wrench or power driver is not recommended without a proper tap adapter and torque limiting feature. Apply cutting fluid appropriate to the workpiece material to reduce friction and extend tap life. Ensure the tap is started perpendicular to the workpiece surface to avoid cross-threading and tap breakage. Follow applicable shop safety practices and OSHA general machine-guarding guidelines when performing tapping operations.
