The VALUE COLLECTION MP92241 is an extended prong cotter pin used to secure clevis pins, bolts, and shaft assemblies in mechanical and structural applications. Machined from 18-8 stainless steel, this pin measures 0.156 inches (5/32 inch) in diameter and 2 inches in usable length. The extended prong design allows the tines to be bent back over a mating fastener quickly and cleanly, providing reliable locking without the need for additional hardware. The uncoated finish is suitable for environments where corrosion resistance is required without surface treatment. Commonly installed by millwrights, pipefitters, maintenance technicians, and general mechanics across a wide range of trade and industrial settings.
This cotter pin suits light to medium-duty fastener retention tasks in mechanical assemblies, linkage systems, hydraulic cylinder clevis connections, and similar applications. The 18-8 stainless steel construction provides good corrosion resistance and moderate strength, making it appropriate for both indoor and outdoor use, including wet or mildly corrosive environments. It is sold individually but requires a minimum order quantity of 10 units per purchase.
Designed as a standard extended prong cotter pin for use in mechanical assemblies requiring a 5/32 inch diameter locking pin with a 2 inch usable length.
Always power down or de-energize equipment and relieve any hydraulic or mechanical load before servicing fastener assemblies. Insert the cotter pin through the hole in the mating fastener, then bend the prongs apart using needle-nose pliers to secure the pin in place. Do not reuse a cotter pin that has been removed from service, as repeated bending degrades the metal and reduces holding reliability. Follow applicable equipment manufacturer guidelines and relevant mechanical codes when installing locking fasteners in safety-critical assemblies.
