The VALUE COLLECTION MDFNYD1-187-5MM is a fully insulated male wire disconnect designed for crimp-style electrical terminations. The connector accepts 22-16 AWG wire (0.5 to 1.5 sq mm) and features a 0.187 inch (4.75 mm) tab width, making it compatible with standard quick-disconnect receptacles of that tab size. The contact is brass with a TiN (titanium nitride) plating for conductivity and corrosion resistance. The full nylon insulation is red, which is the standard color code for 22-16 AWG terminals. Electricians and low-voltage technicians use these for control wiring, panel connections, and field-termination work where a secure, removable crimp connection is required.
These disconnects are suited for residential and light commercial electrical work, HVAC control circuits, appliance wiring, and general panel or harness terminations. They are sold in a package of 100 units, making them a practical bench-stock item for service shops and field technicians who regularly terminate 22-16 AWG wire. The crimp termination method is compatible with standard ratcheting crimp tools sized for insulated terminals in this AWG range.
Designed for use with standard 0.187 inch quick-disconnect receptacles and 22-16 AWG wire. Suitable as a general-purpose male crimp disconnect for HVAC control wiring, appliance circuits, and low-voltage electrical terminations where a fully insulated male tab terminal is specified.
Installation requires a ratcheting or compression crimp tool rated for insulated terminals in the 22-16 AWG range — do not use non-ratcheting pliers, as inconsistent crimp force reduces pull-out strength and can cause arcing. Always de-energize the circuit and verify voltage is absent before terminating or inspecting connections. Follow NEC guidelines for wire gauge, circuit ampacity, and connector suitability for the application. Inspect the insulation sleeve after crimping to confirm it has not cracked or split.
