The VALUE COLLECTION MDB220 20-5 is a 3/4-inch threaded black malleable iron coupling rated at Class 150 and sold in a 5-piece package. This fitting is used to join two sections of threaded pipe in a straight run, maintaining a continuous flow path without change in direction or diameter. The black finish results from a hot-dip or oil-coat process that provides basic corrosion resistance in dry and mildly humid environments. With a 300 psi pressure rating and Schedule 40 compatibility, it suits a wide range of plumbing, gas distribution, and fire protection piping applications. Installation is performed by licensed plumbers, pipefitters, or qualified mechanical contractors.
This coupling is appropriate for residential and light commercial piping systems carrying liquid or gas media. It is commonly installed in natural gas distribution lines, compressed air systems, and water supply runs where threaded black iron pipe is specified. The Class 150 rating and multi-standard certifications make it suitable for use in systems requiring documented compliance. Each package contains 5 couplings, making it a practical choice for service trucks and job-site stock where multiple connections are needed in a single visit.
Designed as an OEM-style threaded replacement fitting for Schedule 40 black iron pipe systems using 3/4-inch NPT threaded connections in plumbing, gas, or compressed air applications.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or pipefitter in accordance with applicable codes, including the International Plumbing Code or International Fuel Gas Code as locally adopted. Shut off and depressurize the pipe system and verify zero pressure before removing or installing any fitting. Apply an approved thread sealant or PTFE tape to male threads before assembly; do not overtighten, as malleable iron threads can be damaged by excessive force. Confirm all joints are leak-tested at system pressure before returning the line to service.
