The VALUE COLLECTION L79NE2816-0420 is a 1/4-20 UNC hex lock nut with a nylon insert locking mechanism, manufactured from Grade 316 stainless steel. The nylon insert compresses against mating thread flanks to resist loosening under vibration, thermal cycling, and mechanical shock without damaging the fastener threads. At 5/16 inches in height and 7/16 inches across the flats, this nut is sized for standard 1/4-20 fastener assemblies. Grade 316 stainless steel provides elevated corrosion resistance compared to 304 alloys, making it suitable for wet, chemical-exposed, or marine service environments. Installers in plumbing, HVAC, electrical, and pool equipment trades rely on this fastener type for secure, reusable connections in corrosive conditions.
This lock nut is used in residential and commercial applications wherever vibration resistance and corrosion resistance are required together. Common install scenarios include outdoor conduit and junction box assemblies, pool and spa equipment enclosures, marine-grade plumbing fittings, HVAC unit panels, and general mechanical assemblies exposed to moisture or mild chemical wash-down. The right-hand thread direction is standard for virtually all UNC fastener assemblies. This nut is sold individually but requires a minimum order quantity of 50 units per order.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or general-use fastener for any assembly requiring a 1/4-20 UNC hex lock nut with nylon insert in Grade 316 stainless steel.
Installation requires a standard hex wrench or socket sized for 7/16 inches across the flats. De-energize all electrical circuits and isolate any pressurized lines before disassembling fastened joints in live systems. Nylon insert lock nuts are intended for single-direction installation and may lose locking torque if removed and reinstalled multiple times. Follow applicable NEC, IPC, or equipment manufacturer torque guidance for the assembly being serviced.
