The VALUE COLLECTION KP1912 is an undersized key stock bar used to secure rotating components such as gears, pulleys, and sprockets to shafts in mechanical power transmission assemblies. Machined to undersized tolerances, this bar fits into standard keyways with controlled clearance, allowing for straightforward installation and removal during maintenance. Constructed from 18-8 stainless steel, it provides solid corrosion resistance in wet, washdown, or mildly corrosive environments. The bar measures 5/16 inches high by 5/16 inches wide by 12 inches long, making it a versatile stock length that machinists and maintenance technicians can cut to required dimensions on the job.
Undersized key stock is commonly used in industrial maintenance, OEM machinery assembly, and mechanical repair across manufacturing, food processing, and general plant environments. The 5/16-inch square profile suits light-to-medium duty shaft applications where standard square keyways are specified. Machinists, millwrights, and maintenance technicians install this stock by cutting it to finished key length, then fitting it into the shaft keyway before pressing or sliding the mating component into position. The 12-inch bar length provides sufficient material for multiple finished keys depending on application requirements.
Designed as a standard undersized key stock replacement for mechanical shaft assemblies using 5/16-inch square keyways in light-to-medium duty power transmission applications.
Installation is typically performed by a machinist or millwright. Shut down and lock out the machine before removing or installing any key stock per OSHA lockout/tagout procedures. Cut the bar to finished key length using a bandsaw or cold saw, then deburr all edges before fitting into the keyway. Verify keyway dimensions and clearance with appropriate gauging before final assembly.
