The VALUE COLLECTION JY79772711 is a straight-flute British Standard Pipe Tap designed to cut 2-11 BSPT internal threads in pipe fittings, manifolds, and threaded ports. Built from high-speed steel (HSS) with a bright, uncoated finish, it delivers reliable thread cutting in production and maintenance environments. The bottoming chamfer allows threading close to the bottom of a blind hole, and the 7-flute geometry distributes cutting load evenly across the tap body. At 4.5 inches overall length and 2 pounds, it fits standard tap wrenches and machine setups used by pipefitters, millwrights, and maintenance machinists.
This tap is suited for cutting BSPT threads — a tapered pipe thread standard common in British-spec plumbing systems, hydraulic components, pneumatic fittings, and imported industrial equipment. The right-hand thread direction and standard hook geometry make it compatible with conventional tapping machines, CNC machining centers, and hand tap wrenches. It is most often used in repair and fabrication work where metric or NPT threads are not the specified standard, including work on European and Asian-sourced hydraulic and pneumatic assemblies.
Designed as an OEM-style tooling replacement for applications requiring 2-11 BSPT straight-flute taps in pipe fitting, hydraulic manifold, and industrial maintenance work.
This tap should be installed by a qualified machinist or pipefitter using a properly sized tap wrench or machine tap holder rated for the 0.8661-inch shank diameter. Before tapping, ensure the workpiece is securely fixtured and the pilot hole is drilled to the correct BSPT tapping diameter for a 2-11 thread. Apply cutting fluid appropriate to the workpiece material and advance the tap with consistent pressure to avoid deflection or breakage. Follow applicable shop safety practices and relevant trade codes when performing threaded pipe work on pressurized systems.
