The VALUE COLLECTION JY4992053 is a straight flute plug tap designed for cutting M6x0.50 metric fine internal threads in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. Built from high-speed steel with a bright, uncoated finish, it delivers reliable thread-cutting performance in production and repair applications. The plug chamfer style — typically 3 to 5 threads of lead — makes it the standard starting choice when threading through or deep blind holes where a starting tap is not required. With a 1 inch thread length and an overall length of 2.5 inches, this tap fits standard tap handles and machine tool holders used in machining and maintenance environments.
This tap is suited for machine shops, maintenance and repair operations, and field service work requiring precise M6x0.50 metric fine threads. The fine pitch of 0.50 millimeters per thread is commonly used where greater thread engagement, reduced axial advance per revolution, or vibration resistance is needed compared to coarse-pitch M6 threads. Machinists, tool-and-die workers, and industrial maintenance technicians use this tap in manual tap handles, tapping heads, and CNC rigid tapping setups with appropriate speed and feed adjustments for the workpiece material.
Designed as a standard replacement or stock tap for applications requiring M6x0.50 metric fine right-hand internal threads. Fits standard tap wrenches, T-handle tap holders, and machine tapping chucks accepting the shank dimensions of a standard M6 tap.
Secure the workpiece before tapping and ensure the tap is started square to the hole to prevent thread damage or tap breakage. Apply an appropriate cutting fluid for the workpiece material throughout the tapping operation. For machine tapping, set spindle speed and feed rate according to published values for the workpiece material and tap size. Reverse the tap periodically when hand tapping hard or deep holes to break and clear chips.
