The VALUE COLLECTION JY4849337 is a 1-32 bottoming hand tap machined from high speed steel (HSS) with a bright, uncoated finish. It is designed to cut full threads to the bottom of a blind hole, making it the final tap used in a three-tap sequence following taper and plug taps. The 4-flute straight flute geometry provides rigid support and clean chip evacuation in through-hole and shallow blind-hole applications. With an overall length of 5.125 inches and a Class 3B thread fit to H4 thread limit, this tap produces tight-tolerance internal threads conforming to the UNS thread standard. It is suited for use in general machining environments where hand tapping or low-speed machine tapping is required.
This tap is intended for threading 1-32 UNS internal threads in metalworking and machining applications. The bottoming chamfer — typically 1 to 2 thread leads — allows threads to be cut as close to the bottom of a blind hole as the tap geometry permits. It is commonly used in tool-and-die, maintenance and repair, and production machining contexts. The right-hand thread direction is standard for the vast majority of threaded fastener applications. Machinists, toolmakers, and maintenance technicians working with small-diameter fine-pitch threads will find this tap suited to their threading needs.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-use hand tap for 1-32 UNS internal thread applications in general metalworking and machining operations.
This tap is installed by machinists or toolmakers using a standard tap handle or low-speed tapping attachment. Before tapping, ensure the workpiece is secured and the correct pilot hole diameter for a 1-32 thread is drilled per standard tap drill charts. Apply appropriate cutting fluid for the workpiece material to extend tap life and improve thread quality. Follow safe tool-handling practices and inspect the tap for chipping or wear before each use to avoid tap breakage in the workpiece.
