The VALUE COLLECTION JY4845244 is a straight flute bottoming tap designed to cut right-hand internal threads in blind holes where full thread depth close to the bottom is required. Built from high-speed steel (HSS) with a bright uncoated finish, it is suited for tapping 9/16-24 UNEF threads across a range of ferrous and non-ferrous workpiece materials. The 4-flute straight configuration provides stability and chip control in through-hole and shallow blind-hole applications. At 3-19/32 inches overall length, this tap fits standard tap handles and tapping heads used in machine shop and maintenance environments. The H3 thread limit provides a controlled fit for most standard UNEF fastener applications.
This tap is intended for use in machining, maintenance, repair, and toolroom operations where fine-thread UNEF tapping is required. The bottoming chamfer — typically 1 to 2 threads of lead — allows threading to within one or two pitches of the hole bottom, making it the correct choice for blind holes that require maximum thread engagement. It is commonly used after a taper or plug tap has started the thread. Machinists, tool and die makers, and maintenance technicians install this type of tap using standard tap wrenches, T-handle wrenches, or CNC and manual tapping equipment.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or standard toolroom tap for use in any setup requiring 9/16-24 UNEF right-hand internal threads. Compatible with standard tap holders, T-handle wrenches, and machine tapping heads sized for this shank diameter and overall length.
This tap is installed by machinists and maintenance technicians using appropriate tap handles or powered tapping equipment. Always ensure the workpiece is securely fixtured and the pilot hole is drilled to the correct tap drill diameter for 9/16-24 UNEF before beginning the tapping operation. Apply cutting fluid appropriate for the workpiece material to reduce heat and extend tool life. When using a bottoming tap in a blind hole, back the tap out periodically to clear chips and prevent tap breakage.
