The VALUE COLLECTION IEFH-0420-24 is a steel captive stud designed to provide a fixed, permanently retained fastener point in sheet metal panels and enclosures. It features a 1/4-20 UNC thread and an overall length of 1.5 inches, making it suitable for light-gauge panel assemblies where minimum panel thickness is 0.062 inches. The stud is manufactured from C1005 to C1018 grade carbon steel and finished with a zinc plating for corrosion resistance. A head height of 0.135 inches keeps the profile low for tight assemblies. This type of fastener is commonly installed by electricians, HVAC technicians, and mechanical contractors working with control panels, equipment enclosures, and similar sheet metal fabrications.
Captive studs in this configuration are used in residential and commercial applications wherever a threaded stud must remain fixed to a panel during assembly and service. Typical install scenarios include electrical control boxes, HVAC equipment panels, and industrial enclosures requiring repeatable, tool-free access hardware. The 1/4-20 UNC thread engages standard hex nuts, wing nuts, and threaded standoffs commonly found throughout trade electrical and HVAC work.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation captive stud for light-gauge steel panels requiring a 1/4-20 UNC retained threaded fastener with a minimum panel thickness of 0.062 inches.
Captive studs of this type are installed by electricians, HVAC technicians, and sheet metal fabricators working on panel assemblies. De-energize all electrical equipment and follow applicable NEC or equipment manufacturer lockout procedures before servicing any enclosure. Installation typically requires a press or appropriate installation tool to properly seat the stud without damaging the panel. Verify panel material thickness meets or exceeds the 0.062 inches minimum before installation.
