The VALUE COLLECTION ICR39440K is a round solid carbide turning insert designed for precision metal cutting on CNC lathes and manual turning centers. Manufactured to ANSI/ISO standard RD16, this insert features an I22 manufacturer grade in an uncoated bright finish, making it well suited for applications where coating is undesirable or where re-grinding is anticipated. The round insert geometry provides a full 360-degree cutting edge, allowing the insert to be indexed repeatedly before replacement. With a 1-inch inscribed circle and a 0.25-inch insert thickness, this is a full-size insert intended for moderate to heavy turning operations.
This insert is used in turning operations across a range of workpiece materials, including cast iron, non-ferrous metals, and heat-resistant superalloys, corresponding to primary workpiece material codes K, M, N, and S. It is appropriate for roughing and semi-finishing passes in both production-shop and job-shop environments. The screw-holding method ensures positive clamping in compatible RD16-style toolholders. Machinists and CNC operators in industrial, aerospace, and general manufacturing settings will find this insert a reliable uncoated carbide option for those material groups.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or standard supply insert for RD16-style toolholders accepting a 1-inch inscribed circle round carbide insert with screw-mount clamping, per ANSI insert code RD16 and ISO insert code RD16.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician with the machine powered down and in an E-stop or lockout-tagout state. Seat the insert fully against the toolholder pocket and tighten the clamping screw to the toolholder specification. Inspect the insert seat and clamping components for chips or wear before seating a new insert, as debris in the pocket can cause insert fracture or poor surface finish. Follow the toolholder manufacturer guidelines and applicable shop safety procedures when indexing or replacing inserts.
