The VALUE COLLECTION ICP65150L is a solid carbide turning insert designed for precision lathe and turning center operations. Conforming to ANSI insert code VBMT332 and ISO insert code VBMT160408, this insert features a 35-degree diamond (rhombic) shape with a positive side clearance geometry. The TCN55 grade substrate carries a titanium nitride (TiN) coating, which extends tool life by reducing friction and increasing wear resistance. With a 3/8-inch inscribed circle and a 1/32-inch corner radius, it is suited to general-purpose turning of a broad range of workpiece materials. Screw-type insert holding keeps it securely indexed at each tool change.
This insert is intended for use in external turning, facing, and profiling operations on CNC lathes and manual turning centers. The VBMT style with positive relief angle (5 degrees) and a chip breaker geometry designated T is well suited for machining stainless steels, mild steels, and similar ISO M and P class workpiece materials in production or job-shop environments. Machinists and CNC operators handling medium-duty cuts will find the geometry and coating combination appropriate for maintaining dimensional accuracy and surface finish across moderate material removal rates.
Designed for use in VBMT-style toolholders accepting a 332 ANSI size code insert with screw-type insert holding. Verify toolholder pocket geometry against ANSI/ISO insert dimensions before installation.
Insert indexing and replacement should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator with the machine in a full stop and all motion axes locked out per facility lockout/tagout procedures. Use the appropriate torx or hex key to the toolholder manufacturer's recommended seating practice when tightening the clamping screw — do not overtighten, as carbide inserts are brittle and can crack under excess clamping force. Inspect the insert pocket and clamping screw for wear or contamination before seating a new insert. Confirm insert orientation and nose angle alignment before resuming cuts.
