The VALUE COLLECTION ICP65020L is a solid carbide turning insert designed for use on CNC lathes and manual turning centers. Manufactured to ANSI insert code SCMT432 and ISO code SCMT120408, this square-shaped insert features a TiN (titanium nitride) coating that improves wear resistance and extends tool life across a range of turning operations. Key dimensions include a 0.5-inch inscribed circle, a 3/16-inch insert thickness, and a 1/32-inch corner radius. The 90-degree included angle and 7-degree relief angle make this a positive-clearance insert suited for light to medium material removal. It is installed by machinists and tooling technicians in production and job-shop environments.
This insert is intended for turning, facing, and profiling operations on ferrous and non-ferrous workpieces. The TCN55 grade with TiN coating targets primary workpiece material codes M and P, covering stainless steels and carbon and alloy steels. The screw-on holding method (SCMT style) indexes into standard SCMT-compatible toolholders. It is commonly used in both high-volume production runs and precision one-off turning work where consistent edge geometry and predictable tool life are required.
Designed as a direct-fit replacement for standard SCMT432 toolholders accepting a 0.217-inch screw hole diameter. Compatible with SCMT-style toolholder pockets conforming to ANSI and ISO SCMT120408 specifications.
Installation is performed by machinists or tooling setup technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the correct torque wrench and insert screw specified by the toolholder manufacturer when securing the clamping screw — do not overtighten or substitute fasteners. Inspect the toolholder pocket for debris, chips, or wear before seating a new insert to ensure proper clamping and edge geometry.
