The VALUE COLLECTION ICP16740D is a solid carbide turning insert designed for precision metal cutting on CNC lathes and manual turning centers. Conforming to ANSI Insert Code TNMP322 and ISO Insert Code TNMP160308, this insert features a 60-degree triangular shape with a negative side clearance and a TiN (titanium nitride) coating for extended tool life and heat resistance. The inscribed circle measures 3/8 inches, the corner radius is 1/32 inches, and insert thickness is 1/8 inches. It is seated and held using a clamp and pin holding method, making it compatible with standard TNMP-style toolholders used across production machining environments.
This insert is suited for turning operations on ferrous and stainless workpiece materials, as indicated by primary workpiece material codes M and P. It performs in both roughing and finishing passes where a negative-rake triangular geometry is preferred. The TCN55 manufacturer grade with TiN coating targets general-purpose steel and stainless steel cutting, making it a practical choice for job shops and production floors running medium to high cutting speeds. Each package contains one insert, with a minimum order quantity of 10 units.
Designed for use in TNMP-style turning toolholders that accept a 322 size insert with a 0.150 inch hole diameter and negative-rake triangular geometry. Compatible workpiece material codes are M (stainless steel) and P (carbon and alloy steel).
Installation is performed by a machinist or CNC setup technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the toolholder is secured in the turret before seating or indexing the insert. Use the appropriate torque wrench for the clamping screw as specified by the toolholder manufacturer, and verify the insert is fully seated against the pocket before resuming cuts. Inspect the cutting edge for chipping or wear at regular intervals per shop maintenance procedures.
