The VALUE COLLECTION ICC28930M is a solid carbide, uncoated turning insert designed for precision metal cutting on CNC lathes and manual turning centers. Manufactured to ANSI insert code CPG422 and ISO insert code CPG120308, this insert features an 80-degree diamond (rhombic) shape, a 0.5-inch inscribed circle, and a 1/32-inch (0.0313-inch) corner radius. The bright, uncoated carbide construction suits applications where coating adhesion or heat sensitivity is a concern. It is held in place by a clamp-style toolholder and operates with a flat-top chip breaker geometry, positive side clearance, and an 11-degree relief angle.
This insert is intended for turning operations on cast iron, non-ferrous metals, and select heat-resistant and stainless alloys, corresponding to primary workpiece material codes K, M, N, and S. It is suited for both production and job-shop environments where a reliable, general-purpose CPG-style insert is required. The C2 material grade makes it appropriate for moderate cutting speeds on materials that do not demand specialized coatings. Machinists and CNC programmers specifying CPG422 geometry will find this insert a direct fit for compatible ANSI toolholders.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-fit insert for ANSI CPG422-style clamp toolholders used in general turning applications. Compatible workpiece material codes include K (cast iron), M (stainless), N (non-ferrous), and S (heat-resistant alloys) as noted in the product specifications.
This insert is installed by a machinist or CNC tooling technician. Before changing inserts, confirm the machine spindle is fully stopped and the toolholder is secured in the turret. Use the appropriate clamp screw torque per the toolholder manufacturer's specification — do not substitute values from unrelated holders. Inspect the toolholder pocket and clamp for wear or debris before seating the insert to ensure proper contact and runout.
