The VALUE COLLECTION GH8862328 is a solid pilot counterbore designed for precision counterboring operations in metalworking and machining applications. Built from high speed steel (HSS), this tool delivers reliable cutting performance across a range of common metals. It features a 25/32 inch counterbore diameter, a 17/32 inch standard pilot diameter, and a straight-cylindrical 3/4 inch shank for secure chuck or holder engagement. Three flutes provide efficient chip evacuation and a clean, consistent bore finish. Forward cutting direction makes this tool compatible with standard drill press and milling machine setups used by machinists and tool and die professionals.
This counterbore is suited for creating flat-bottomed recesses that seat socket head cap screws, bolts, and fasteners with a 1/2 inch fastener size compatibility. It is appropriate for use in job shop, production, and maintenance environments where accurate counterbore depth and diameter are required. Standard pilot sizing ensures proper alignment with pre-drilled through-holes during the counterboring process. The HSS construction supports use across mild steel, aluminum, brass, and similar materials at typical spindle speeds.
Designed as a standard-pilot solid counterbore for 1/2 inch socket head cap screws and bolts, compatible with drill press, milling machine, and CNC setups that accept a 3/4 inch straight-cylindrical shank.
Installation and operation should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician. Secure the 3/4 inch shank firmly in a collet, drill chuck, or toolholder rated for the shank diameter before beginning operation. Ensure the workpiece is properly clamped and the spindle is at the correct RPM for the material being machined before engaging the tool. Never operate the counterbore without the pilot engaged in the pre-drilled guide hole, as unsupported cutting can cause chatter or tool damage.
