The VALUE COLLECTION GH8840282 is a 4-flute interchangeable pilot counterbore designed for precision counterboring operations in metal fabrication and aircraft-style applications. Built from high-speed steel with a bright, uncoated polished finish, this tool delivers consistent cutting performance on ferrous and non-ferrous materials. The 7/16 inch counterbore diameter and 1/4 inch straight shank make it compatible with standard drill press chucks and milling machine spindles. At 2-13/16 inches overall length, it provides adequate reach for most production and maintenance counterboring tasks. Right-hand cutting direction follows standard CNC and manual machining conventions. Licensed machinists and maintenance technicians are the primary users of this tool.
This counterbore is suited for aerospace-style and general metalworking applications where a removable pilot is required for flexibility across multiple hole sizes. The interchangeable pilot design accepts a 1/8 inch pilot shank, allowing the same body to be used with different pilot diameters without replacing the entire tool. Typical applications include spot-facing bolt holes, seating fastener heads below a workpiece surface, and preparing holes for socket head cap screws in aluminum, mild steel, and similar materials.
Designed as an OEM-style interchangeable pilot counterbore for use in standard drill press, milling machine, and CNC spindle setups accepting a 1/4 inch straight shank.
This tool is installed by machinists and maintenance technicians using a standard drill chuck or collet sized to the 1/4 inch straight shank. Secure the workpiece firmly before operation and ensure the interchangeable pilot is fully seated and locked before beginning the cut. Run at appropriate surface feet per minute for the workpiece material and tool diameter as specified in standard machining reference guides. Inspect the pilot and cutting flutes for wear before each use.
