The VALUE COLLECTION GH8790602 is a straight-shank interchangeable pilot counterbore designed for precision counterboring operations in metal fabrication and machining applications. Built from high-speed steel with a bright, uncoated finish, this tool delivers consistent cutting performance in production and maintenance shop environments. It features a 15/16-inch counterbore diameter, a 3/4-inch straight shank, and three flutes ground for right-hand cutting direction. The 6-1/8-inch overall length and 4-5/8-inch shank length provide reach and rigidity for standard machining setups. The interchangeable pilot design accepts a 1/4-inch pilot shank, allowing the cutter head to be swapped without replacing the full tool body. Machinists and tool-and-die technicians are the primary users of this counterbore.
This counterbore is suited for creating flat-bottomed recesses around drilled holes to seat fastener heads flush or below a workpiece surface. It is commonly used in general metalworking, fixture building, and mechanical assembly operations where bolt or socket-head cap screw clearance is required. The interchangeable pilot system makes it practical for shops that need to maintain consistent shank inventory while running multiple counterbore diameters. Right-hand cutting direction is compatible with standard spindle rotation on most vertical mills, drill presses, and machining centers.
Designed as an OEM-style interchangeable pilot counterbore for use with standard 3/4-inch straight-shank toolholders on vertical mills, drill presses, and machining centers accepting a 1/4-inch pilot shank diameter.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or toolroom technicians. Secure the 3/4-inch shank firmly in a collet, chuck, or toolholder before operation and verify the pilot shank is fully seated and locked. Disengage machine power and allow the spindle to come to a complete stop before changing pilots or inspecting the cutting edges. Apply an appropriate cutting fluid for the workpiece material to extend tool life and improve surface finish.
