The VALUE COLLECTION GH8780603 is a 3-flute interchangeable pilot counterbore designed for precision seat cutting in metal fabrication and machining applications. Built from high speed steel with a bright, uncoated finish, this tool accepts standard interchangeable pilots and mounts via a No. 3 Morse Taper shank for secure, repeatable seating in compatible drill presses and milling machines. The counterbore diameter measures 15/16 inches with a 1/4 inch pilot shank compatibility, and the tool runs an overall length of 6-1/8 inches. Right-hand cutting direction and a polished finish support clean, burr-free entry in production and job-shop environments. Machinists and tool-and-die professionals are the primary users of this tool.
This counterbore is suited for creating flat-bottomed recesses for socket head cap screws and similar fasteners in ferrous and non-ferrous metals. The interchangeable pilot system allows the operator to swap pilots for different clearance hole sizes without changing the counterbore body, making it efficient for shops that machine multiple fastener sizes. The No. 3 Morse Taper shank fits a wide range of drill press and milling spindle configurations common in general machine shops, maintenance facilities, and aerospace-adjacent production environments. The 6-1/8 inch overall length provides adequate reach for standard workpiece thicknesses.
Designed as an OEM-style interchangeable pilot counterbore for use in drill presses and milling machines equipped with a No. 3 Morse Taper spindle. Accepts standard interchangeable pilots with a 1/4 inch pilot shank diameter.
Installation and use of this tool should be performed by a qualified machinist familiar with Morse Taper tooling. Ensure the spindle and taper socket are clean and free of debris before seating the shank to prevent runout. Power down and lock out the machine before changing pilots or removing the tool from the spindle. Follow applicable shop safety standards and machine manufacturer guidelines for speed and feed selection.
