The VALUE COLLECTION DT22HEX-7/16-14 is a combination drill tap designed to drill and tap a hole in a single operation, eliminating the need for separate drilling and tapping steps. Built from high molybdenum high speed steel with a black and gold coating, this tool delivers hardness and wear resistance suited for ferrous and non-ferrous materials. It features a 135-degree split point for fast, accurate starting without center-punching, and 2 flutes to clear chips during the combined operation. Thread size is 7/16-14 with a thread length of 1.25 inches and an overall length of 3.875 inches. Machinists, maintenance technicians, and fabricators use this tool to reduce cycle time in production and repair work.
This combination drill tap is used in machine shop, maintenance, and fabrication environments where through-hole tapping in a single pass is required. The 7/16-14 UNC thread form is a standard coarse-pitch size common in structural and mechanical assemblies. It is appropriate for use in drill presses, CNC machining centers, and hand-held power drills with appropriate setup. The split drill point geometry reduces thrust and walking at the start of the cut, making it practical for both fixured and hand-held applications on mild steel, aluminum, and similar materials.
Designed as a standard 7/16-14 UNC combination drill tap suitable for use in drill presses, CNC machining centers, and power drills; confirm chuck and spindle compatibility before use.
Combination drill taps should be installed and operated by machinists or qualified maintenance technicians familiar with proper speeds, feeds, and cutting fluid application. Always secure the workpiece firmly before beginning the cut, and apply appropriate cutting fluid for the material being tapped to extend tool life and improve thread quality. Ensure the drill press or machine spindle is properly aligned to prevent tool deflection or breakage. Remove chips periodically when tapping deeper holes to prevent clogging and tool failure.
