The VALUE COLLECTION DT22HEX-12-24 is a combination drill tap designed to drill and tap a 12-24 thread in a single operation. Manufactured from high-molybdenum high-speed steel with a gold finish, this tool delivers the hardness and heat resistance needed for production and repair threading work. It features a 135-degree split drill point for fast penetration and reduced walking on entry. With a 2-flute design and an overall length of 2.375 inches, it is sized for use in hand drills, drill presses, and CNC tapping centers where compact reach is required.
This combination drill tap is suited for threading operations in metalworking and fabrication shops, MRO facilities, and HVAC or mechanical contracting environments where 12-24 fastener applications are common. It eliminates the separate drilling step, reducing cycle time in light-gauge steel, aluminum, and similar materials. The 11/16-inch thread length is appropriate for standard panel and bracket thicknesses encountered in field and shop work. Machinists, fabricators, and service technicians who perform their own threading work will find this tool useful for both production runs and one-off repairs.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or equivalent for 12-24 combination drill tap applications in standard drill press, hand drill, and CNC tapping center setups compatible with the tool shank size.
Combination drill taps are installed by machinists and fabricators using a drill press, tapping center, or hand drill with appropriate chuck clearance. Use a cutting fluid or tapping compound rated for the workpiece material to extend tool life and improve thread finish. Secure the workpiece firmly before engaging the tool and operate at speeds appropriate for the material being threaded. Inspect the tool for wear or chipping before each use, as a damaged cutting edge on a combination tool can strip threads and damage the workpiece simultaneously.
