The VALUE COLLECTION CNFI5043-100BX is a 7/16-20 castle lock nut manufactured from Grade 5 steel with a bright, uncoated finish. Castle lock nuts feature slotted crowns that accept cotter pins or safety wire, providing positive locking retention in applications subject to vibration, rotation, or cyclic loading. This nut measures 29/64 inches in height with a width across flats of 11/16 inches and uses a right-hand thread. It conforms to ANSI B18.2.2 dimensional standards. Mechanical assemblers, millwrights, and maintenance technicians install these fasteners in drive assemblies, linkage systems, and any bolted joint where thread loosening under dynamic load is a service concern.
This castle lock nut is suited for general industrial, automotive, and equipment maintenance applications where a 7/16-20 unified fine thread fastener is required. The UNF thread series provides finer thread engagement than coarse pitch equivalents, making this nut a common choice in precision assemblies, thin-walled sections, and applications where higher clamp load per turn of torque is needed. The uncoated finish is appropriate for dry indoor installations or applications where the technician will apply their own thread compound or corrosion protection.
Designed as a standard 7/16-20 UNF castle lock nut conforming to ANSI B18.2.2, suitable for use on any Grade 5 or lower-grade threaded fastener of the same thread specification in general industrial or mechanical assemblies.
Installation is performed by qualified mechanical technicians. De-energize or lock out any machinery before servicing fastened assemblies in accordance with applicable OSHA lockout/tagout procedures. Torque to the joint requirement using a calibrated torque wrench, then align the nearest castle slot with the cotter pin hole before inserting a correctly sized cotter pin or safety wire. Do not over-tighten past the nearest slot alignment point to force fit a cotter pin, as this can compromise clamp load.
