The VALUE COLLECTION CLNI20250-100BX is a distorted-thread hex lock nut designed to resist vibration-induced loosening without requiring a separate locking insert or adhesive. Manufactured from Grade 2 steel with a zinc-plated finish for basic corrosion resistance, this nut features a 1/4-20 UNC thread size and right-hand thread direction. It measures 7/32 inches in height and 7/16 inches across the flats. The distorted-thread locking style creates interference with the mating bolt threads, producing prevailing torque that keeps the nut seated under dynamic loads. Electricians, plumbers, HVAC technicians, and general mechanical tradespeople use this style of nut in panel assemblies, equipment mounting, and structural fastening applications.
This hex lock nut is suited for light- to medium-duty fastening tasks in both residential and commercial settings. The 1/4-20 UNC thread pattern is one of the most common inch-series thread standards, making this nut a practical stock item for service vans, shop bins, and maintenance crews. It is used in equipment enclosures, conduit supports, ductwork hardware, and general mechanical assemblies where a standard hex nut requires supplemental locking capability. The zinc plating provides a base level of protection in dry or mildly humid indoor environments.
Designed for use with 1/4-20 UNC inch-series bolts and threaded rod in general mechanical, electrical, HVAC, and plumbing fastening applications.
Install using a standard 7/16-inch wrench or nut driver; no special tools are required. Power down or de-energize any electrical equipment before fastening hardware inside enclosures or panels, in accordance with NFPA 70 (NEC) lockout/tagout procedures. Do not reuse distorted-thread lock nuts after removal, as the locking interference is reduced once the threads are cycled. Ensure the mating bolt threads are clean and free of damage before installation to achieve full prevailing torque.
