The VALUE COLLECTION C34178 is a steel flared tube connector designed for hydraulic, pneumatic, and fluid-transfer lines requiring a secure, leak-resistant connection. The fitting uses a 37-degree flare seat on one end and NPTF (National Pipe Taper Fuel) threads on the other, creating a dry-seal mechanical connection without the need for thread sealant. With a 3/8-inch tube outside diameter, this connector suits medium-bore tubing runs found in HVAC, refrigeration, fuel, and general industrial plumbing systems. Licensed plumbers, pipefitters, and HVAC technicians install this type of fitting as part of hard-tube assemblies wherever a Flare x NPTF transition is required. Each order includes 5 connectors.
This connector is suited for residential and light commercial applications involving steel tubing in refrigerant lines, fuel systems, hydraulic circuits, and compressed-air plumbing. The 37-degree flare angle conforms to the SAE J514 flare standard, making it compatible with standard JIC-style flared tube ends. It is appropriate wherever a transition from a flared tube to a tapered pipe thread port is needed, such as at valve bodies, manifolds, compressors, or equipment fittings with NPTF ports.
Designed as a standard SAE 37-degree Flare x NPTF tube connector for use with 3/8-inch OD steel tubing in hydraulic, fuel, refrigeration, and compressed-fluid systems requiring NPTF port connections.
Installation is typically performed by licensed plumbers, pipefitters, or HVAC technicians. Before servicing any line, depressurize and isolate the system fully and confirm all fluid has been purged from the affected section. Ensure the tube end is properly flared to a 37-degree angle using a calibrated flaring tool before seating the fitting, as an improperly formed flare is the most common cause of joint leakage. NPTF threads are designed for dry-seal assembly; verify thread engagement and inspect for damage before torquing.
