The VALUE COLLECTION C2200608 is a Woodruff keyseat cutter designed for milling Woodruff keyseats in shafts and other precision machined components. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel with a bright, uncoated finish, it delivers hardness retention and wear resistance in demanding cutting applications. The cutter features a 1 inch cut diameter and a 0.1875 inch (3/16 inch) cut width, with a staggered tooth configuration across 12 teeth for smoother chip evacuation and reduced cutting forces. It mounts on a 1/2 inch diameter shank and runs to a 2.1875 inch overall length. This tool is suited for machinists and toolmakers working on shaft keyway applications in job shop, production, or maintenance environments.
This keyseat cutter is used in manual milling machines and CNC machining centers for producing Woodruff keyseats in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. The M42 cobalt grade makes it appropriate for harder workpiece materials where standard M2 HSS tooling loses edge life too quickly. It conforms to ANSI Standard 608 (Old Standard 13), making it a direct fit for applications specifying that standard. Typical users include machinists, toolroom operators, and maintenance technicians performing shaft and coupling work in industrial and manufacturing settings.
Conforms to ANSI Standard 608, Old Standard Number 13. Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct substitute for Woodruff keyseat cutter applications requiring a 1 inch diameter, 3/16 inch wide cutter on a 1/2 inch shank per that standard.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists on horizontal or vertical milling machines using an appropriate arbor or collet matched to the 1/2 inch shank diameter. Secure the workpiece firmly before engaging the cutter and confirm spindle speed is appropriate for the workpiece material and cutter diameter before beginning the cut. Inspect the cutting edges for wear or chipping before each use. Follow all applicable shop safety procedures and machine guarding requirements when operating milling equipment.
