The VALUE COLLECTION C2100202-1/2 is a Woodruff keyseat cutter designed for milling Woodruff key slots in shafts and mechanical components. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel with a bright, uncoated finish, this straight-tooth cutter delivers consistent performance in both ferrous and harder workpiece materials. It carries a 0.3125-inch cutting diameter and a 0.0625-inch cutting width, with a 1/2-inch shank diameter for secure mounting in standard milling machine collets or chucks. Machinists and tool-and-die professionals use this cutter for precision keyway work on shafts, spindles, and similar rotating components. ANSI standard number 202-1/2, old standard 206.
This cutter is suited for horizontal and vertical milling machine setups where accurate Woodruff key slots are required. The straight-tooth configuration and cobalt M42 substrate make it appropriate for general-purpose keyseat applications in job shops, maintenance facilities, and production environments. With an overall length of 2.0625 inches and 8 teeth, it provides adequate reach and chip clearance for standard keyseat depths. A licensed machinist or toolmaker is the typical installer in shop or maintenance settings.
Designed as an ANSI 202-1/2 standard Woodruff keyseat cutter with a 1/2-inch shank, compatible with horizontal and vertical milling machines equipped with a 1/2-inch collet or arbor. Conforms to old standard number 206 for cross-reference purposes.
Install and remove this cutter only with the milling machine fully powered down and locked out per applicable OSHA lockout/tagout procedures. Secure the shank firmly in a properly sized collet or chuck to minimize runout before cutting. Use appropriate cutting fluid or coolant for the workpiece material to extend tool life and maintain dimensional accuracy. Handle with care — cobalt HSS cutters are brittle and can chip if dropped or subjected to side impact.
