The VALUE COLLECTION C12001210 is a Woodruff keyseat cutter designed for milling the semicircular keyseats used in shaft-and-hub assemblies. It features a 1.25-inch cutting diameter and a 0.375-inch cutting width, with a staggered tooth configuration that reduces chatter and improves chip evacuation during the cut. The cutter is machined from high speed steel (HSS) and carries an ANSI designation of 1210, also referenced as Old Standard E. The bright, uncoated finish is standard for general-purpose HSS tooling. Machinists and tool-and-die technicians are the primary users. It mounts via a 0.5-inch straight shank and has an overall length of 2.375 inches.
This cutter is suited for manual and CNC milling operations where Woodruff keyseats must be machined into shafts, spindles, or similar cylindrical workpieces. The staggered tooth geometry makes it a practical choice for both full-depth plunge cuts and side-feed keyseat operations in steel, aluminum, and similar machinable materials. It conforms to ANSI 1210 dimensions, making it a drop-in fit wherever an ANSI-standard Woodruff keyseat cutter of this size is specified on a print or process sheet.
Conforms to ANSI standard 1210 (Old Standard E), making it a direct replacement for any ANSI 1210 Woodruff keyseat cutter application requiring a 1.25-inch cutting diameter and 0.375-inch cutting width on a 0.5-inch shank.
Installation is performed by machinists on vertical or horizontal milling machines equipped with a suitable arbor or collet capable of accepting a 0.5-inch shank. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is locked out before mounting or removing the cutter. Use appropriate cutting fluid for the workpiece material to extend tool life and maintain dimensional accuracy. Inspect the cutter for chipped or worn teeth before each use — a damaged tooth can produce an out-of-tolerance keyseat.
