The VALUE COLLECTION BT-M6-8MM-AS is an M6 metric set screw designed for applications where a soft tip is required to grip or bear against a shaft without damaging the surface. The fastener features a hex socket drive and a brass soft tip point, which deforms slightly under load to provide secure holding force while protecting the mating surface from scoring or gouging. Built from Grade 8 alloy steel, the body provides high tensile and torsional strength appropriate for demanding mechanical assemblies. The 8 mm thread length runs the full length of the fastener. Machinists, maintenance mechanics, and assembly technicians install this type of hardware in production and field settings.
This set screw is suited for use in shaft collars, pulleys, gears, couplings, and similar mechanical components where the fastener must bear directly against a shaft or mating surface. The brass tip makes it a preferred choice when working with hardened shafts, precision ground shafts, or any shaft material that must remain free of marring. It is commonly used in light to medium industrial machinery, conveyor assemblies, and rotating equipment where periodic adjustment or removal is expected. Metric M6 threading is standard across a wide range of metric-dimensioned components in both imported and domestic equipment.
Designed as a standard metric replacement or production set screw for shaft collars, couplings, pulleys, and similar M6-threaded metric hardware requiring a soft tip point.
A licensed or qualified mechanic or maintenance technician should de-energize and lock out the equipment before installing or adjusting set screws in rotating assemblies. Use a properly sized hex key to avoid rounding the socket drive. Do not exceed the recommended seating torque for M6 fasteners as published in the applicable mechanical standard for the assembly. Inspect the brass tip for wear or deformation during regular maintenance intervals and replace if the tip no longer contacts the shaft surface uniformly.
