The VALUE COLLECTION BS27N0037 is a wire-size No. 37 jobber-length drill bit ground from high speed steel (HSS) with a bright, uncoated finish. It produces a 0.1040-inch diameter bore and is suited for general-purpose drilling in aluminum and non-ferrous materials. The 130-degree split point with web thinning reduces thrust on entry and helps the bit walk less on curved or slippery surfaces. Overall length is 2.5 inches with a 1.4375-inch slow-spiral flute that promotes chip evacuation in softer metals. Right-hand cutting direction follows standard drill press and hand-drill operation. Intended for use by machinists, HVAC technicians, electricians, and plumbers drilling pilot or clearance holes through sheet metal, aluminum extrusions, and similar non-ferrous workpieces.
This bit is a general-purpose jobber drill sized to wire-gauge No. 37, corresponding to 0.1040 inches. It is well-suited to light-duty production work and service-call drilling where a compact, short-reach bit is preferred. The straight cylindrical shank fits standard drill chucks without adapters. Primary workpiece material is aluminum and non-ferrous metals, making it a practical shop consumable for electrical panels, conduit work, HVAC sheet metal, and plumbing fixture rough-in tasks where small-diameter clearance holes are required.
Designed as a general-purpose jobber drill for use in any standard drill press or hand drill chuck that accepts a 0.1040-inch straight-shank bit; primary workpiece materials include aluminum and non-ferrous metals.
A licensed or journeyman-level tradesperson should select proper drill speed (RPM) for the workpiece material before starting — lower RPM is appropriate for harder non-ferrous alloys. Secure the workpiece firmly before drilling to prevent rotation or chatter. Use cutting fluid or light lubrication on aluminum to extend bit life and maintain bore quality. Inspect the cutting edges for wear before each use; HSS bits should be replaced or resharpened when visible dulling occurs rather than forcing feed pressure.
