The VALUE COLLECTION BDNA-MPA996393 is a distorted-thread hex lock nut designed to resist loosening under vibration and dynamic loads. Manufactured from Grade 2 steel with a zinc-plated finish for basic corrosion resistance, this 1/2-13 UNC/UNF nut uses a mechanically deformed thread profile — rather than a nylon insert or chemical adhesive — to create prevailing torque. At 7/16 inches high with 3/4 inches across the flats, it fits standard hex tooling. Right-hand thread direction conforms to conventional fastener orientation. Suitable for general mechanical assembly work across industrial, construction, and maintenance applications.
This nut is used in general-purpose fastening applications where a low-profile, all-metal locking mechanism is required. Distorted-thread lock nuts are preferred in environments where elevated temperatures would compromise nylon-insert performance. Common installation scenarios include structural assemblies, equipment mounting, and mechanical component retention where fasteners are subject to vibration or cyclic loading.
