The VALUE COLLECTION BD34903 is a Grade 8 alloy steel standard dowel pin used to align, locate, and retain mating components in mechanical assemblies. Measuring 0.375 inches in diameter and 1.5 inches in pin length, this dowel is manufactured to a tight diameter tolerance of 0.0002 inches for precise fit in reamed holes. It carries a breaking strength of 28,700 pounds in double shear and a Rockwell hardness rating of C 50-58, making it suitable for high-load, high-precision fixturing applications. One end is beveled and one end is rounded to ease installation and alignment.
This dowel pin is used in machine tool fixtures, jigs, dies, and general industrial assemblies where tight positional tolerances are required. It is appropriate for both light production and maintenance applications across manufacturing, metalworking, and mechanical trades. The hardened alloy steel construction holds up in environments where repeated assembly and disassembly cycles are expected. Packages contain 25 pins per unit, with a minimum order quantity of 1 package.
Designed as a standard OEM-style dowel pin for use in mechanical assemblies requiring a 0.375-inch nominal diameter hardened locating pin in a reamed or ground hole.
Dowel pins are typically installed by machinists or maintenance mechanics using a press or mallet with a suitable driver. Always ensure the receiving hole is reamed or ground to the correct tolerance before pressing in the pin. Do not hammer directly on the pin face without a proper driver to avoid deforming the end geometry. Verify hole depth and pin length compatibility before assembly to prevent bottoming issues.
