The VALUE COLLECTION BD1618 is a peel blind rivet designed for fastening applications where access is limited to one side of the workpiece. The large flange head distributes clamp load over a wider surface area, making it well suited for softer or thinner base materials. Both the rivet body and mandrel are aluminum, keeping weight low while providing adequate shear and tensile strength for light-to-medium duty assemblies. The head diameter measures 29/64 inches, and the rivet accepts a grip range of 3/16 inches minimum to 3/8 inches maximum. This style is installed by sheet metal workers, HVAC fabricators, and general contractors working on ductwork, panels, enclosures, and trim attachments.
Peel blind rivets are commonly used where a large, secure footprint on the blind side is needed. The petals of the mandrel peel back during setting, forming a wide, mushroomed back flange that resists pull-through in thin or soft materials such as sheet aluminum, thin-gauge steel, plastics, and composite panels. Typical applications include HVAC duct assembly, electrical enclosure fabrication, trailer and panel construction, and light structural attachment work. This package contains 25 rivets, making it practical for small jobs or restocking a service kit.
Designed as a standard peel blind rivet compatible with manual and pneumatic rivet tools accepting 3/16 inch diameter rivets. Suitable for use with aluminum, thin-gauge steel, plastic, and composite panel materials within the stated grip range.
Installation requires a rivet tool sized for 3/16 inch blind rivets, either manual or pneumatic. Drill the appropriate pilot hole diameter per the rivet manufacturer specification before setting. Verify the total material stack thickness falls within the 3/16 inch to 3/8 inch grip range before selecting this rivet for the application. Discard spent mandrel stems safely and inspect the set head for full petal engagement on the blind side where access permits.
