The VALUE COLLECTION BD-KP4214 is an IDC (insulation displacement contact) tap quick splice connector rated for 18 to 14 AWG wire. It allows a technician to tap into an existing wire run without cutting or stripping the conductor. The connector uses a blade contact that pierces the insulation and makes a secure electrical connection when the cap is pressed closed. Blue color coding identifies the connector as suitable for the 18 to 14 AWG wire range. Each package contains 25 connectors. These are commonly used in low-voltage wiring work across HVAC controls, automotive, and general electrical applications.
This connector is suited for residential and light commercial wiring tasks where a quick branch connection is needed on an existing circuit. Typical applications include thermostat wiring, control wiring in HVAC equipment, lighting circuits, and accessory taps in panel or device wiring. The IDC termination method eliminates the need for wire strippers, making it a fast option for field technicians adding a tap to an already-routed conductor. Two wire entries accommodate the source wire and the branch tap wire in a single connector body.
Designed for use with 18 to 14 AWG copper conductors in low-voltage control wiring, HVAC thermostat circuits, and general electrical tap applications requiring an IDC-style splice connector.
Installation is performed by electricians, HVAC technicians, or qualified tradespeople working on low-voltage or line-voltage control circuits, depending on the application. De-energize the circuit completely before inserting conductors into the connector. Seat both wires fully into their respective channels before pressing the cap closed with pliers to ensure the blade makes full contact with both conductors. Verify the completed connection meets local code requirements, including any applicable NEC provisions for splicing and tapping conductors.
