The VALUE COLLECTION BD-13231 is a galvanized steel pipe nipple designed for threaded piping systems in plumbing, HVAC, and general industrial applications. Constructed from welded steel with a hot-dip galvanized finish, this nipple measures 1-1/4 inches in pipe size and 3-1/2 inches in overall length. It is Schedule 40 wall thickness, providing reliable pressure-rated performance for standard service conditions. Male NPT threads on both ends allow direct connection to female-threaded fittings, valves, and pipe assemblies. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters install this type of nipple in water supply lines, gas distribution systems, and mechanical piping where corrosion resistance and thread integrity are essential.
This pipe nipple is suited for residential and light commercial piping installations where a short, rigid threaded connector is required between two female-threaded components. Typical applications include connecting valves to headers, extending threaded pipe runs, and completing close-coupled fitting assemblies in water, air, or gas service lines. The galvanized coating provides added resistance to rust in wet or exposed environments, making it appropriate for both indoor mechanical rooms and outdoor service risers.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard fitment nipple for 1-1/4 inch female NPT threaded fittings, valves, and pipe assemblies in Schedule 40 piping systems.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or qualified pipefitter in accordance with the International Plumbing Code (IPC) and applicable local codes. Shut off and depressurize the piping system completely before removing or installing any threaded components. Apply an approved thread sealant or PTFE tape to the male threads before assembly and tighten to a snug fit using a pipe wrench, taking care not to overtighten and crack female fittings. Inspect threads for damage before installation to ensure a leak-free joint.
