The VALUE COLLECTION B52001662 is a heavy hex lock nut with a nylon insert, designed for high-vibration fastening applications where standard nuts tend to loosen over time. Threaded at 7/8-9 UNC with a right-hand thread direction, it is manufactured from Grade 2 steel with a zinc-plated finish for basic corrosion resistance. The nylon insert deforms against the bolt threads to create a prevailing-torque locking action without the need for additional locking hardware. At 1-1/8 inches in height with 1-7/16 inch width across flats, this is a heavy hex profile suitable for higher-load structural and mechanical assemblies. Machinists, millwrights, and maintenance technicians are the typical installers.
This nut is used wherever a reliable vibration-resistant fastener is required in inch-standard mechanical assemblies. Common applications include general industrial machinery, structural steel connections, agricultural equipment, and heavy equipment maintenance. The zinc plating provides light-duty corrosion protection suitable for indoor or sheltered environments. The UNC thread form makes it compatible with standard 7/8-9 bolts and threaded rod used across industrial and construction trades.
Designed for use with standard 7/8-9 UNC threaded fasteners including bolts and threaded rod conforming to inch-standard UNC specifications.
Installation is performed by hand-threading the nut onto a 7/8-9 UNC bolt or threaded rod until the nylon insert engages, then torquing with an appropriate heavy hex wrench or impact tool. Ensure mating fasteners are free of debris, damage, or lubricant that could affect the prevailing-torque locking function. Nylon insert lock nuts are generally considered single-use; reuse after removal is not recommended in critical applications. Follow applicable mechanical or structural fastening standards for torque requirements based on joint design and load.
