The VALUE COLLECTION B240 40X20 is a black malleable iron reducing coupling designed for threaded pipe connections in commercial and industrial piping systems. It transitions between a 1-1/2 inch female thread on the larger end and a 3/4 inch female thread on the smaller end. Rated Class 150 with a liquid and gas pressure rating of 300 psi, this fitting is suitable for use with both liquid and gas distribution lines. The black finish is standard for gas piping applications. Multiple international and domestic certifications confirm this fitting meets rigorous manufacturing and performance standards.
This reducing coupling is used in residential and commercial gas piping, black iron water distribution, and industrial fluid systems where pipe diameter must step down within the same threaded run. Typical installation scenarios include branch reductions at manifolds, equipment supply connections, and field-modified piping assemblies. The threaded end connections allow tool-only installation without hot work or specialized joining equipment. Licensed plumbers, pipefitters, and gas service technicians are the primary installers of this fitting type.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting for Class 150 threaded black iron piping systems using NPT-style connections in gas, water, and general fluid service applications.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber, pipefitter, or qualified gas technician in accordance with applicable local codes and IFGC or IPC requirements. Shut off gas or fluid supply and depressurize the line completely before disassembling existing piping. Apply an approved thread sealant or PTFE tape to the male threads before assembly, and tighten with appropriate pipe wrenches to achieve a leak-free connection. Do not over-torque malleable iron fittings, as the material is not as ductile as steel and can crack under excessive force.
