The VALUE COLLECTION B10108 is a metric shoulder screw machined from 12.9 grade alloy steel, designed for precision fastening applications where a hardened, close-tolerance shoulder is required. The shoulder measures 6 mm in diameter and 20 mm in length, providing a smooth bearing surface for rotating or sliding components. Drive engagement is via a hex socket head, which accepts a standard hex key or Allen driver. The head diameter ranges from 9.78 to 10 mm with a head height of 4.32 to 4.50 mm. The threaded portion is M5x0.80 metric thread. The uncoated finish leaves the steel in its natural state, and the part meets ASME/ANSI B18.3.3.M, BS 4168, and ISO 7379 dimensional standards.
Shoulder screws of this type are used across mechanical assemblies, jigs, fixtures, and precision equipment where a hardened pin-like shoulder must pass through a bore to act as a pivot, guide, or locating element. Common applications include die sets, punch and die tooling, linkage assemblies, and cam mechanisms. The M5x0.80 thread engages a tapped hole in the base component while the shoulder floats freely through a mating bore in the moving part. This part is sold in packages of 10 units with a minimum order quantity of 1.
Designed as a standard metric shoulder screw for mechanical assemblies, tooling, and fixtures requiring an M5x0.80 threaded shank with a 6 mm precision shoulder.
Installation is performed by a machinist, toolmaker, or mechanical technician using a properly sized hex key matched to the socket head. Before installation, confirm the mating bore diameter is sized to allow free rotation or sliding on the 6 mm shoulder without excessive clearance. The threaded hole in the base component must be clean and correctly tapped to M5x0.80 before driving the screw. Do not apply thread-locking compounds to the shoulder section, only to the threaded portion if retention is required.
