The VALUE COLLECTION B10024 is a flat socket cap screw designed for applications requiring a flush or countersunk fastener profile. It features an 82-degree flat head driven by a 3/8-inch hex socket, making it compatible with standard hex key sets. The screw is manufactured from alloy steel with a black oxide finish, providing moderate corrosion resistance and a low-reflectance appearance suited to industrial and mechanical assemblies. The 5/8-18 UNF thread pattern indicates a fine-thread designation, and the shank is partially threaded over its 3-1/2-inch overall length. This fastener is typically installed by machinists, millwrights, and maintenance technicians working in structural or mechanical fixture applications.
This screw is used in countersunk hole configurations where the fastener head must sit flush with or below the mating surface. Typical applications include machine tool fixtures, jigs, tooling plates, and structural assemblies where surface clearance is critical. The fine UNF thread pitch provides greater thread engagement strength and improved resistance to loosening under vibration compared to coarse-thread equivalents. The partial threading allows the unthreaded shank to bear shear loads independently of the threaded section.
Designed for use in countersunk through-hole and blind-hole applications requiring a 5/8-18 UNF thread. Conforms to ASME/ANSI B18.3 and ASTM F835 standards, making it a direct fit wherever those specifications are called out.
Installation should be performed by qualified machinists or mechanical technicians using a properly sized 3/8-inch hex key or socket driver. Ensure the mating countersink is machined to match the 82-degree included angle to achieve full head seating. De-energize or lock out any associated equipment before fastener service per applicable OSHA lockout/tagout procedures. Do not exceed the torque range specified in ASME B18.3 for the applicable material and thread class.
