The VALUE COLLECTION ARWR/SG/6 is a straight-handle tap wrench designed for threading operations in metalworking, plumbing rough-in, and mechanical service applications. It accepts tap sizes from 3/16 inch to 3/4 inch, with a pipe tap range of 1/8 inch to 3/8 inch, covering the most common threading tasks encountered in trade work. At 15 inches overall length, the handle delivers the leverage needed to drive taps cleanly through ferrous and non-ferrous materials. The non-ratcheting straight handle provides direct, tactile feedback during thread cutting, helping the operator feel resistance and avoid tap breakage. Plumbers, pipefitters, HVAC technicians, and maintenance mechanics will find this wrench suited for field and shop use alike.
This tap wrench is appropriate for residential and light commercial applications where hand-tapping is required, including threading holes in pipe flanges, equipment frames, brackets, and similar workpieces. The M4 to M20 metric compatibility range extends its usefulness to metric fastener work alongside standard inch-size taps. It is a single-piece straight-handle design without a ratchet mechanism, making it straightforward to use in open bench or accessible field locations where a full rotation of the handle is practical.
Designed for use with standard straight-shank hand taps in the 3/16 inch to 3/4 inch range, including inch-size and metric taps from M4 to M20, as well as pipe taps in the 1/8 inch to 3/8 inch range.
Hand tap wrenches are operated by qualified tradespeople including plumbers, pipefitters, and mechanical service technicians. Before tapping any threaded hole in a live system, isolate and de-energize or depressurize the workpiece as required by applicable codes. Use cutting fluid appropriate to the workpiece material to extend tap life and reduce the risk of tap breakage. Apply steady, even rotational force and back off periodically to clear chips from the flutes.
