The VALUE COLLECTION 97207 is a partially threaded hex head cap screw designed for structural and mechanical fastening applications in industrial, commercial, and trade settings. Sized at 7/8-9 thread (7/8-inch diameter, 9 threads per inch UNC) with a 7-inch length under head, this fastener is manufactured from Grade 5 steel and left uncoated for standard bare-metal applications. It conforms to ASME B18.2.1, the governing standard for inch-series hex head screws. The partial threading is appropriate for clamped-joint fastening where a smooth shank is required through one or more members before thread engagement begins. Machinists, millwrights, pipefitters, and general mechanical contractors are the typical installers.
This cap screw is suited for heavy-duty bolted connections in structural steel assemblies, machinery frames, equipment mounting, and pipe-support fabrication. The 7/8-9 UNC thread form is a widely used coarse-thread size in industrial fastening, compatible with standard 7/8-9 hex nuts, washers, and threaded inserts. The uncoated finish is standard for indoor or protected installations where galvanic or corrosion resistance is not a primary requirement. Sold in a package quantity of 10 per order.
Designed for use with standard 7/8-9 UNC hex nuts, flat washers, and lock washers in bolted assemblies conforming to inch-series fastener specifications.
Installation should be performed by a qualified mechanic, millwright, or tradesperson familiar with structural bolting procedures. Use a calibrated torque wrench and apply torque values per applicable engineering specifications or the governing standard for the joint classification. Ensure mating threads and bearing surfaces are clean and free of debris before assembly. Do not exceed the proof load of a Grade 5 fastener; consult joint design documentation for proper preload requirements.
