The VALUE COLLECTION 934-000-230 is a cobalt, single-end ball end mill engineered for precision milling in demanding shop environments. Measuring 0.0350 inches in diameter with a 0.0530-inch length of cut, this stub-length tool handles both roughing and finishing operations from a single setup. The 2-flute geometry paired with a variable helix angle of 35 to 40 degrees promotes efficient chip evacuation and reduces chatter, particularly in small-diameter applications. A bright, uncoated finish keeps the cobalt substrate exposed, making it well suited for applications where coating adhesion or heat sensitivity is a concern. Licensed machinists and CNC toolroom operators will find this tool ready to run right out of the package.
This end mill is designed for use on CNC machining centers and manual mills where small-diameter, close-tolerance work is required. Its primary workpiece materials include steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum and non-ferrous alloys, high-temperature alloys, and hardened materials. The stub-length configuration provides rigidity in tight Z-clearance situations. The 3/16-inch straight cylindrical shank fits standard collet chucks and end mill holders common across most machine tool spindles.
Designed as a direct-fit replacement or new-install tool for any machine tool spindle accepting a 3/16-inch straight cylindrical shank, including standard ER collet systems and end mill holders. Compatible workpiece materials include steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum and non-ferrous alloys, high-temperature alloys, and hardened materials per Series 857 application guidelines.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist familiar with tool holding and runout requirements for small-diameter end mills. Confirm collet or holder bore is clean and free of debris before seating the shank, and torque the retention nut or set screw to the machine tool manufacturer specification. Check radial runout at the tool tip before engaging the cut, as runout becomes proportionally more significant at diameters under 1/16 inch. Do not exceed the recommended depth of cut for the material class being machined.
