The VALUE COLLECTION 92248 is an extended prong cotter pin designed to secure clevis pins, shafts, and fasteners in mechanical assemblies. Measuring 3/16 inches in diameter and 1-1/2 inches in length, this pin is manufactured from 18-8 stainless steel, providing corrosion resistance in wet or chemically exposed environments. The extended prong design allows the legs to be bent back firmly around the host fastener after installation, locking the assembly in place. Machinists, maintenance mechanics, and MRO technicians install these pins across a wide range of industrial, agricultural, and equipment maintenance applications.
This cotter pin is suited for use in light to medium mechanical assemblies where a reliable, removable locking fastener is required. Common applications include securing axle pins, clevis joints, and linkage rods in equipment such as trailers, agricultural implements, hydraulic actuators, and general machinery. The 18-8 stainless steel construction makes it particularly appropriate for outdoor, marine-adjacent, or wash-down environments where carbon steel fasteners would corrode. Sold individually with a minimum order quantity of 50 pieces.
Designed as a general-purpose replacement or stocking cotter pin for mechanical assemblies requiring a 3/16 inches diameter extended prong style fastener. No specific OEM model compatibility is stated by the manufacturer.
Cotter pins are installed by a qualified mechanic or maintenance technician after the primary fastener or pin is in place. Insert the cotter pin through the hole in the shaft or clevis pin, then spread the prongs and bend them in opposite directions around the fastener to prevent backing out. Use the correct size cotter pin hole in the mating fastener — do not force an oversized pin. Worn or previously bent cotter pins should never be reused; always install a new pin after disassembly.
